Bloggers often start out with a great deal of enthusiasm and write posts frequently. But as they learn to track their stats they see that almost no one is visiting their blog. They can get very frustrated by this. Their posting frequency goes way down, and some often give up blogging entirely.
If you are in this situation then you shouldn't despair. As long as your visitor numbers are gradually building then that's fine.
Be the tortoise, not the hare. If you are just getting two hits a day from search engines, then remember that's still over seven hundred a year. If you can get those two, then it won't be long before you get another two. And you won't have to do anything more once you have gained those positions in the SERPs (well, not usually, anyway). For example, I have one blog that I haven't updated for months. While the traffic is slowly dwindling, I still get a few hits a day. It's amazing how long this lasts.
So those daily numbers should remain steady indefinitely. If you add some more posts -- making sure to put keywords in the titles -- you'll get still more ongoing traffic from Google and the other search engines.
And remember that you can always get immediate traffic by using social media. I have found the groups on Linkedin and Google Plus in particular to be a good source of traffic. Facebook groups can bring in the odd click, too.
This is good, targeted traffic. And it's often from fellow bloggers. So by using this method you are vastly increasing the odds that you'll gain some backlinks eventually.
Speaking of other bloggers: If you make sure to write a few really good comments on blogs in your niche every day, then you should be able to bring in another couple of clicks from each one. As well as the views, this will result in more comments on your blog -- always a bonus.
If you keep doing all these things it's not that hard to get around 10 targeted hits a day -- even for a very new blog. Doesn't sound like much, but remember, that's well over 3000 a year! Not to be sneezed at.
